Blazer + Joggers = Ultimate Online meeting outfit.

For years we have been occupied with getting our work office outfits down to a fine art.

Who knew that platforms like Zoom and Teams would become the new office space. We certainly were not prepared for this massive shift nor were we informed of the correct online meeting etiquettes. To have camers on or to not. To get dressed up or to not (that’s has to be for a different post).

I have certainly been stung by being too casually dressed during meetings. So you can imagine my joy when I saw trends of how to get the best of both smart and casual wears.

I have been living and breathing joggers for the last 5 months. They are super comfort, easy and double up as so many things. Lounge wear, sleepwear, heading down to the post office wear and now online meeting wear. Ha🤣. I paired mine with a checked boyfriend blazer for a smart casual look. As we usher in the autumn a high neck top seemed perfect for this look. A crop top would work perfectly too.

If like me you are having to occasionally visit the office then complete this look with a pair of shoes or sandals..

I actually wore this for my sisters birthday gathering. And the best part is that these are all items I already had in my wardrobe.

Let me know your thoughts. Could this look work for you? What do you currently wear on your online video meetings. Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.

How to keep your thigh high boots thigh high.

Hey guys..do you suffer from skinny calf syndrome like myself?

Do you find that your thigh high boots keep falling down??

My problem is that I have to buy a UK size 8 or 9 shoe to fit my big feet but then the calf doesnt fit well.😌.

So there is my little hack of getting them boots to stay up where they need to be.

All you need to do is tie a scarf around the fullest part of your calf. This will create some resistance if the boots want to slide down. Hence preventing your thigh high boots from falling.
This can also be done with a small hand towel. The best part is that it can also keep you warm.

💃💃💃💃Winning!

Voilà !

Thigh high boots that actually stay thigh high.
Do let me know if the above works for your. Or if you have alternative tip’s please share.

Tall Mom Jeans review .

One of my friends saw me wearing these jeans and said I have never seen you in jeans before.

……errrrm but I am constantly in skinny jeans ! Are guys really that unbothered about what women wear???

It eventually dawned on me that what he meant that he has never seen me in true demin jeans ( mom jeans) before .   It is often the case that we mistake the blend of demin, cotton and elastane in the form of high waisted skinny jeans to be true cotton demin.

My friend was so right.  This is probably my first true demin in a very very long while.

I kinda like it!

I have envied my sister’s rocking their ‘mom jeans’.🙉 It been on my ‘to buy’ list for ages too.  The problem has always been finding one that would fit right.

The stretch in regular jeans have been a God send for me. Hence finding jeans without stretch that fit my waist, hip and height has been the cross I have had to carry till I bought these.

I am wearing a 36w/36l. It’s a little roomy on  the waist but for the most part they fit well.

When I see myself in these jeans, I totally see my mum back in the 80’s/ 90’s. Now I get why these are called Mom Jeans.

I really love the stirrup hem on theses. It really take me back. Not to mention it adds character and authenticity to the jeans.

I do wonder how these jeans will keep up. I worry that the denim will soften after a few wears and become too baggy ( since there is no stretch). What are your experiences with mom jeans ?

I guess only time will tell. For the moment am loving them and can’t wait to wear it with white trainers .

Diy Pearl Jeans -Tall girls

Hey friends,

It’s almost the end of summer and I desperately wanted to join the pearl jeans gang. I think it looks so cool paired with white sneakers or mules.

I searched the internet and found not one pair of tall pearl jeans.  I wasn’t gonna to let this go…. the idea of buying a regular pair of jeans and making it work crossed my mind🤔🤔 but I didn’t want to settle for that.

I had just bought a new pair of Joni Jeans from the Topshop sales. So I decided to make my very own pearl jeans.

Whenever I go to Walthamstow market, I feel like a kid at a candy store. I love checking out the fabric and haberdashery stores. My mind literally wonders as I think about all the things I can customise or make.

I bought a chain pearls for £1. It contained about 100 pearls, although I can’t tell you the size.

Deciding where to place the beads was easy. I wanted something eye catching so I sewed the pearls randomly by the ankles of the Jeans and along the waist/thigh area.

It turned out more beautiful than expected.  Totally worth the hard work of making a knot behind each pearl.  I have since learnt that I could have used pearl rivets to speed things up… maybe next time.

I finish this look by pairing my pearl jeans with an asymmetric hem top from Zara and mules from Dorothy Perkins.  Read more about these shoes here

Five rules for wearing floral prints

Hey lovelies. …. we can hardly make it past summer without saying the ‘F’ word. Floral prints are definitely a summer staple.

Deciding which floral print to wear can be the problem. Is there any such thing as a dated print? Are some prints more suited for specific sessions ? ????🤔

Fashion rules are there to be pushed and broken. But here are 5 rules to help you in wearing floral prints this summer.

Rule  No. 1

Wear whatever print makes you happy and comfortable . During the summer months you might find that larger sized  prints are more suited to match the bright and vibrant weather.  During the winter you can get away with adding colour and character to grey and cold days with smaller sized floral prints.

Rule No. 2

It is not a crime to wear floral print on floral print.  It takes a very special kind of person to pull this off.  If you are going the extra mile and wish to wear clashing prints, take care not to over do it. Medium sized prints with small sized floral prints might just be the right balance.
Rule No. 3

Make a statement with your floral print.  Maximum the impact of your floral print by wearing it in a maxi-dress or by draping it in a duster/ kimono.
Rule No. 4

Be brave enough to experiment with colour. Opt for colours which suit your complexion for a girly and fresh look.
Rule No. 5

If you are still not sure how to join the flower power movement, floral embroidery item are on trend and perfect for this season.

Styling Bermuda Shorts

Shorts and summer go hand in hand.  With the sun blessing us with a few rays, it only right we dedicate some time to shorts.

I would never pick shorts first on any given day…but if i had to…. Bermuda shorts would make the cut.  I know,  I Know!  Knee length anything are so ancient, but this classic cut provides a very chic way to hide knock knees, cellulite and what ever else you might want to keep under wraps.

Unlike other shorts, I would feel very comfortable wearing these to the office or other corporate events. Believe it or not theses shorts are super versatile and easy to dress up or down.

I styled mine by pairing my Bermuda short with a tucked in basic cami ( this gives the illusion that it’s a one piece) and layered a lace blouse on top.  For the added touch of Chic-ness I dug out an old pair of heeled shoes, my Angolmania’s -perfect !

Soo…. have I convinced you that Bermuda shorts are a must try this summer ?

How would you wear your?

DIY- Making a Kimono Jacket

Hi Guys,

I have recently had the urge to be more creative.  So I embarked on my first DIY sewing project to make a Kimono Jacket.

To start with I went fabric shopping.  This was so much fun guys. So much colours and textures out there.  I don’t know much about fabric compositions but something flowy works well for Kimono’s.  I also went for something with florals since this is totally in trend.

Once you have your fabric, you will need the following:

IMG_2855

  • 2.5 yards of Fabric ( buy more fabric if you want the Kimono to be bigger or longer)
  • Sewing machine
  • Measuring tape
  • Fabric marker or chalk
  • Thread
  • Pins
  • Scissors

Begin by folding your fabric into two. Do this along the longer side of the fabric.

Decide on how big you want the Kimono, then mark iron and and cut downwards of the folded edge.  I wanted an over-sized look so I measure mine at 36 inches ( This came out super big so I ended up taking 2 inches off).  When cutting ensure you still have enough fabric for your sleeves.

With the remaining fabric measure and cut out your sleeves.  I wanted wide and long sleeves these measured  13 inches on the half.  You will need to cut two fabrics this size for both sleeves.

IMG_2856

You should have the following pieces of fabric cut now.  You will notice that I cut a slit in the bigger piece of the fabric.  This is the main body of the kimono and the slit will form the front openings/ sides.  Do not throw away left over fabrics.  This can be used to make a belt or pockets for your Kimono.IMG_2859

I decided to work on the sleeves first. On each piece, I pinned the two edges inside out and sewed.   As an additional step I ironed my seams open.  This helps with getting that great finish.

I currently do not have an over-locker so I had to double fold and sew all the raw edges on the Kimono to avoid fraying.  On the sleeves you only need to do this to one edge as the other edge will be joined to the main body of the Kimono.

You are now ready to attach the sleeves.  Insert the sleeves into the Kimono and pin into place. Take care to ensure that the sleeves are the right way in to avoid having them inside out once you have finished sowing.

You should now have the basics of your Kimono.

I decided to cut the neck line as above to add some shaping to the collar.

Finally sew the sides together and neatly bind all your raw edges.  And your DONE!

Oh I added pockets and a belt with left over fabrics.

All in all I found this Kimono fairly straight forward to make and I am so thrilled with what I have achieved.  One of my biggest challenge was in binding the neck edge because of the collar curve( I could really do with some tips on how to do a better job of this in the future).  I am also still working on making my sewing straight but am sure a little more practice will straighten this out.  In hindsight I wish I used fabric that was printed on both sides.  Am not keen on seeing the plain side showing as am wearing the Kimono.

Ok so…. This is the finished product!   Still not sure how an going to wear this on holiday but I put this look together just to show you.

Varied stripe –  Becky Striped maxi shirt dress

This maxi dress turned midi on my six foot tall frame. I am not mad because I loved it so much that I managed to rock it regardless.

The varied thickness of the stripes adds so much depth to the pattern.

With a wrap front and thigh high splits at the side, you can guarantee that you will be showing some legs.

I added my own red bed belt and shoe boots. 😍

Travel diaries – Pink Skater dress

I figured that I should share what I wore to the beach since I did not leave the hotel in my swimsuit.

I find that skater dresses make pretty good cover ups.
They are great as add ons to beach wear yet very wearable when not at the beach too.

I am always pleasantly suprised at how flattering and cute this dress is.
This time I teamed it with pink flatforms and my flower headband.
Apparently I looked like a real Greek Goddess.
If your thinking Athena the goddess of wisdom then I will take it as a compliment.

Travel diaries – Lady in Red

The colour red is such a bold and statement colour. I think it requires lots of confidence to wear because you will most definitely get lots of stares.

I normally have my unbothered hat on while on holiday. My motto is that I will be gone in a few weeks or days so “what the heck!”

Before I share my outfit, I just wanted to show off my makeup skills.😜.
I have literally just touched down and everything is already glowing.  This natural sun light is great for selfies but also used the Live Love make up bronze palette.

This gorgeous off the shoulder maxi dress was take from my mother’s closet. I loved it at first sight and just had to have it. The colour is very eye catching. It’s totally on tend and the thin straps mean you don’t have to worry about the dress rolling off your shoulders.

The frills on this dress is very flattering and great for hiding my problem areas

I decided to tie a knot on the hem of this dress because it’s not quiet the right length for my tall frame. But when I like am item, I  go for it and just make it work.
I believe am working it! Hopefully it’s not too obvious either 😆.
