Girl power – Power suit.

Girl power is taking over and we are doing it looking fierce and fabulous in all shades of power suits.

Take your average work suit and sprinkle a little rainbow dust on it for the ultimate power suit. This trend is all about varied fits and vibrant coloured suits.

There is literally a suit to suit everybody, even if it means pairing items from different shops.

I loved the colour of these cropped trouser so much that I hunted them down from Dorothy Perkins. I then paired it with a jacket from Zara for my personal take on power suits. This pairing cost me less than £80 and saved me approximately £40. The colours are not perfectly matching but it looks intentional and helps to break up the look.

What are your thoughts on this look. Personally I think its a double win. Even when you are not having such a great day, a power suit will have you winning.🤗

Just in case you need more inspiration. Check out this power suit from the Asos tall range

Tall Mom Jeans review .

One of my friends saw me wearing these jeans and said I have never seen you in jeans before.

……errrrm but I am constantly in skinny jeans ! Are guys really that unbothered about what women wear???

It eventually dawned on me that what he meant that he has never seen me in true demin jeans ( mom jeans) before .   It is often the case that we mistake the blend of demin, cotton and elastane in the form of high waisted skinny jeans to be true cotton demin.

My friend was so right.  This is probably my first true demin in a very very long while.

I kinda like it!

I have envied my sister’s rocking their ‘mom jeans’.🙉 It been on my ‘to buy’ list for ages too.  The problem has always been finding one that would fit right.

The stretch in regular jeans have been a God send for me. Hence finding jeans without stretch that fit my waist, hip and height has been the cross I have had to carry till I bought these.

I am wearing a 36w/36l. It’s a little roomy on  the waist but for the most part they fit well.

When I see myself in these jeans, I totally see my mum back in the 80’s/ 90’s. Now I get why these are called Mom Jeans.

I really love the stirrup hem on theses. It really take me back. Not to mention it adds character and authenticity to the jeans.

I do wonder how these jeans will keep up. I worry that the denim will soften after a few wears and become too baggy ( since there is no stretch). What are your experiences with mom jeans ?

I guess only time will tell. For the moment am loving them and can’t wait to wear it with white trainers .

Outfit details-

Grey cropped sweat top – Zara.

Mid wash blue mom jeans with Stirrup hem- Asos.

Red shoes – Marks and Spencer

Diy Pearl Jeans -Tall girls

Hey friends,

It’s almost the end of summer and I desperately wanted to join the pearl jeans gang. I think it looks so cool paired with white sneakers or mules.

I searched the internet and found not one pair of tall pearl jeans.  I wasn’t gonna to let this go…. the idea of buying a regular pair of jeans and making it work crossed my mind🤔🤔 but I didn’t want to settle for that.

I had just bought a new pair of Joni Jeans from the Topshop sales. So I decided to make my very own pearl jeans.

Whenever I go to Walthamstow market, I feel like a kid at a candy store. I love checking out the fabric and haberdashery stores. My mind literally wonders as I think about all the things I can customise or make.

I bought a chain pearls for £1. It contained about 100 pearls, although I can’t tell you the size.

Deciding where to place the beads was easy. I wanted something eye catching so I sewed the pearls randomly by the ankles of the Jeans and along the waist/thigh area.

It turned out more beautiful than expected.  Totally worth the hard work of making a knot behind each pearl.  I have since learnt that I could have used pearl rivets to speed things up… maybe next time.

I finish this look by pairing my pearl jeans with an asymmetric hem top from Zara and mules from Dorothy Perkins.  Read more about these shoes here

Ss17 Trends -Must have Mules

Guys Mules are still the business.  They are even more trendy today than ever so they are definitely a MUST have!

I love the cross mules and you can find a pair just about everywhere.  Well… unless your tall and have big feet then you might need to be a little more strategic about where you get your mules from.

I have been shopping the Dorothy Perkins, Primark and New look mules range for 2 main reasons.

  • They are affordable
  • They offer wide fit and size 9 shoes.

I reviewed the cross mules from my recent purchase. I love the vibrant colours which all three retailers offer in this style. I must say the yellow mules from Primark wins hands down.

Newlook have a slightly wider range of colours. However, I was a little disappointed that they only had size 8 available in the style I wanted and unfortunately it was very pinchy on my little toes. These shoe must have just been made small because I was able to fit into Primark and Dorothy Perkins size 8.

I was please to find that Newlook do have other styles of mules in wide fit and size 9’s.  This  clip on pompoms add some fun to my mules. You can buys yours here.

Although the Dorothy Perkins crossed Mules are a little bit more expensive, they are worth the extra £££’s. These go up to a size 9 and probably have the highest heel of them all.

The cheapest of them all was of course from Primark, it cost a jaw dropping £10. These have been my most worn pair of shoes in the last few weeks and it is holding up pretty well.

Have fun shopping for Mules this season.  The New look and Dorothy Perkins style can be found here  and here.

See you soon.

Five rules for wearing floral prints

Hey lovelies. …. we can hardly make it past summer without saying the ‘F’ word. Floral prints are definitely a summer staple.

Deciding which floral print to wear can be the problem. Is there any such thing as a dated print? Are some prints more suited for specific sessions ? ????🤔

Fashion rules are there to be pushed and broken. But here are 5 rules to help you in wearing floral prints this summer.

Rule  No. 1

Wear whatever print makes you happy and comfortable . During the summer months you might find that larger sized  prints are more suited to match the bright and vibrant weather.  During the winter you can get away with adding colour and character to grey and cold days with smaller sized floral prints.

Rule No. 2

It is not a crime to wear floral print on floral print.  It takes a very special kind of person to pull this off.  If you are going the extra mile and wish to wear clashing prints, take care not to over do it. Medium sized prints with small sized floral prints might just be the right balance.
Rule No. 3

Make a statement with your floral print.  Maximum the impact of your floral print by wearing it in a maxi-dress or by draping it in a duster/ kimono.
Rule No. 4

Be brave enough to experiment with colour. Opt for colours which suit your complexion for a girly and fresh look.
Rule No. 5

If you are still not sure how to join the flower power movement, floral embroidery item are on trend and perfect for this season.

SS17 trends – PomPom shoe clips

With the summer finally here am jazzing up all my shoes and sandals also with fun fluffy pom poms.

Pompom are literally everywhere.  Add them to you bags , you purse and now your shoes.

I had all my friends talking and admiring my old shoes because the pom pom clips added a touch of character to them. They are just ridiculously cute.

These are probably the easiest way to upgrade your footwear.

The pompoms come with clips attached. So I can add and remove them from my shoes as I please (because a girl is allowed to change her him)

Styling Bermuda Shorts

Shorts and summer go hand in hand.  With the sun blessing us with a few rays, it only right we dedicate some time to shorts.

I would never pick shorts first on any given day…but if i had to…. Bermuda shorts would make the cut.  I know,  I Know!  Knee length anything are so ancient, but this classic cut provides a very chic way to hide knock knees, cellulite and what ever else you might want to keep under wraps.

Unlike other shorts, I would feel very comfortable wearing these to the office or other corporate events. Believe it or not theses shorts are super versatile and easy to dress up or down.

I styled mine by pairing my Bermuda short with a tucked in basic cami ( this gives the illusion that it’s a one piece) and layered a lace blouse on top.  For the added touch of Chic-ness I dug out an old pair of heeled shoes, my Angolmania’s -perfect !

Soo…. have I convinced you that Bermuda shorts are a must try this summer ?

How would you wear your?

Orange cami- Banana Republic

Black peep toe shoes – Vienna Westwood/ melissa”s

Travel diaries -Discovering Africa – Sierra Leone finally thoughts …

Like all holidays I wish my time at SL would not come to an end. I feel there is still so much to see and do.

I had so many first experiences on this trip and at times I was totally out of my comfort zone. Firstly … I like to plan holidays to perfection. This trip was not planned and I had no idea what I was going to face. My host wouldn’t even tell me what the light situation was like 😒. However, all this has helped in making this a memorable holiday.

I really loved/ love how warm and embracing the people of Sierra Leone were towards me. As this is the first African country I have been to outside of my home ( Nigeria), SL and its people will always have a special place in my heart.*sob sob*

I can’t wait to see what the rest of Africa has to offer.  It’s going to be a long road and it may take yearssss but am motivated to continue discovering Africa.

This is my last look from Sierra Leone. Hope you have enjoyed this series of travel diaries as much as I have enjoyed writing it.  Feel free to ask me any questions regarding my travels.

This is why I love layering… I transformed a basic shorts and cami look to a very trendy evening wear by layering a tulle dress over it .

Cami- Primark

Demin Shorts – Dorothy Perkins

Tulle dress – Asos

Shoes – Steve Madden

Travel diaries -Discovering Africa – Sierra Leone lookbook -Radisson Blu

I might have lost count of the days as life has been happening day and night. It’s becoming difficult to account for each day as it occurs. Anyway… I had the opportunity to go to the Radisson Blu Hotel. This is supposed to be one of the ‘best’ hotels in Freetown. .

I had heard lots about the Radisson Blu Hotel, especially from the locals so I couldn’t wait to check it out.

This was first location where our car had been properly checked by security. I have felt reasonably safe in SL through out my stay but I felt extra safe with this added security check.

I learnt that this hotel was previously called Mammy Yoko but it was damaged /destroyed in the war .

I really liked it here.  Aside for the great ambiance as you enter the hotel,  there is a wonderful sea breeze coming from all over. It really just envelopes you. This is one of the many things I love about Sierra Leone. Despite the HOT temperature’s, there is always a lovely cool breeze.

These tall trees provide shade from the sun and beyond the tennis court is the beach.  You literally can access Lumely Beach from the hotel.
We sat by the pool side and had some lunch.  I have to say I was not totally impressed with the service provided. The waiter took so long I thought I was going to pass out.

The choice of what to have was easy.  I think I have had fish everyday since I arrived in Sierra Leone. This is partly because my mother warned me not to eat any meat following the Ebola crisis. But more so because I wanted to make up for all the fish I don’t eat in London. With the sea so close … there’s always a good section of fresh fish available. Today I  opted for the Snapper.

This came with 2 sides . Strangly the sauce for the fish was cheeky regarded as a side 😒😒.   For the price I felt a little cheated. Although the food was tasty and well cooked; however, it was nothing to write home about.  We were definitely paying for the location rather than the food.

In all honestly, the location was pretty amazing. I could see a Tennis court, a Golf course and lots of grounds around the hotel. This hotel is by far the best I have seen in Freetown and am so glad I got to experience it.
For this outing I wore a floral dress.  You cant go wrong with florals on holiday.  However if I am ever unsure I opt for large floral prints in the day and smaller prints for the evenings.

This dress from Marks and Spencer has a very simple cut but the print speaks volumes.

I teamed it with my blue mules an a small blue purse for the kill. Am finding that these mules go with pretty much everythings.  They are perfect for holidays when you don’t want to carry so many things.

Travel diaries -Discovering Africa Sierra Leone lookbook -Day 6

I am worried that I will return from this holiday and need another holiday to recover from the holiday.

It’s been non stop with activities morning and night.  I spent some time by the beach and spotted a Gelato joint called Gigibonita with free WIFI.  My plan was to spend the afternoon there.  Catch up on emails, connect with my friends and family, browse a little; just the usual online stuff. I am strangely missing ‘me time’ and this would have been just that. This plan went right out the window when I met a tall, dark and handsome man.

Tall guys certainly have an ora about them, especially when they are nicely built. He joined me at my table and we spent a few minutes explaining pleasantries.

I learnt that Deen  (a pseudonym) used to live in London and relocated to Freetown some years back .  We continued our conversation over lunch at Roys Restaurant.  Slightly taken about by his boldness my only consolation was that he knew my host. Freetown fairly small and everybody knows everybody.

I did my usual wedding ring finger check. There was no ring…. no ring tan line either. Hummm….. warraheck, so are you married, I asked?

I appreciated Deen’s honestly-

Got 3 kids 😒

Separated 😕

Still stays in the same home as your ex each time you are in the UK 😩.

Am done. I had retracted so fast that I was down the other side of the road. He was all the things I didn’t want for myself. This fleeting romance ended at lunch.

This gorgeous frilled hem dress is from Zara.

White mules – Primark

Handbag – Zara
