I do love my flat days, especially for the times when practical and comfort are the rule of the day.

I fell in love with these nude patent pumps just because of the embellishment *coveringface* is that sad?? Yes I can be super girlie and I would say YES to some sparkles any day.

IMG_6771[1]So pretty!

Brogues have never been so trendy.  Topshop really pushed the boat out with this contrast toe cap, lace-up front and cut out style.

Hope you like my Fab Fall flats collection. Do let me know which trendy flats you have added to your shoe collection recently.

Perfect Pleats

Skirts are essentials in every ladies wardrobe.  How much better when the skirt is a midi, pleated and printed.

Yessss🙌🙌. That’s triple glory in my books.

Pleated skirts have an element of “back to school” and it reminds me of my much cherished school days.  I hated my pleated kilt skirt back then. Who would have known that I would be investing in pleated skirts now. On a more serious note, this skirt is lush and it would make the perfect center piece for every outfit.

I am obsessed with movement and this skirt has got it all and a bag of chips. Although not part of the tall range at Topshop, I just had to click buy.

The sad part of life is that you can’t always get what you want, when you want it.

So this is my secret.

When I can’t find a style in the tall range, I always check out the standard range.  Generally I can get away with a midi length in the standard range.

Ta daaa!!!

Never let your height make you feel disadvantaged

This shirt works so well as a high waist number.  Can you see what I mean by the length. Perfect for my long legs

Soft layering

The only way to survive the winter chill is to layer up.  I also like to use  this survival tip during the autumn but to a lesser degree by SOFT LAYERING.

This sounds more technical than it actually it.  Essentially it requires the laying for thin layers of clothing to achieve a cosy look as I have done here.  I styled this look for my Podiatry appointment today.  Its been raining cats and dogs yet the temperature is still in the high teens. Getting dressed in the morning has just gotten even more hard and confusing to avoid not being too hot during the commute and not freezing in the evening.  I literally threw on layers all in the name of trying to keep warm andddddddddd Voila !!!.. a pretty trending/ edgy soft layered look.

I like this look because it can easily go from a day to a evening look, i mean drinks after work kinda vibe. My scarf was bought donkey years ago from Topshop (I am not sure why I keep using animal idioms…. promise, this is the last one).  It never gets old and the fringed ends add some much needed movement to this outfit, totally bringing it to life.

Hope you liked this throwing on layers look.  Dont forget to connect with me so we can be friends on instagram @ijaykheavens.  See you on the next post

Upgrade your 9-5

Upgrading your 9-5 is not easy but it CAN be done. Interestingly, I did just that by making 2 simple changes…… to my outfit. I am talking about how I updated my 9-5 work look;););)
I am the worst for not making an effort when going to work.
But the following saying really got me thinking:

“Dress the way you want to be addressed”

Getting the balance between looking chic for work yet not over the top is a daily battle. But I think I have nailed the 2 staple peices to update any work outfit.
As we say sayonara to summer and hello fall; jackets, coats, trench coats and classic heels are the only way forward. Make sure you do not get left behind.

These shoes are the business but I can’t help but see them as casual when I wear it to work

Angle grazer trouser are great for work.  They are super versatile and very comfort. With these you can bring some colour to any work environment.
Remember smart does not have to mean boring!!

As much as I love this look. Watch me totally upgrade this look to a chic work attire.

What a difference a pair of heels and a Camel Coat makes.

I had fun upgrading this work look. Going back to work on Monday should be interesting.

Colour confidence

It’s so easy to get stuck in a rot with the summer we have had … or not had!!  This feeling can reflect in the sorts of clothing you wear…or even the colours you choose.  September kinda marks the beginning of the autumn season. So why not go out with a bang. I just had this urge to experiment with colours. Yes I had people craning their necks to look at me. I did wonder if I had taken it a bit too far until I realised it was stares of admiration…;);) well… so my friend told me.

Wow… this full maxi skirt is everything to me right now.  Made from light fabrics so it sways and moves with every step.

Sweat patches are the bane of my life!
One of the main reasons I shy away from coloured clothing. However, I recently discovered sweat pads (God bless the genius who came up with this) and currently use PURAX Pure Pads Antiperspirant . Super discreet and works wonders.

This post is perfectly timed with the London Notting Hill Carnival just days away.
All those bright colours .. shades of reds, yellows , orange…. ahhhh it’s like the peak of summer all over again, but all in one day.

Today’s colour confidence look was inspired by the very fashion forward Jelena  Karleusa.

All season shoe booties

Over here in the UK seasons are everything. Yes we have a lot of cold and grey weather but amongst all that there are some priced hot sunny summer months(or weeks) too.

Today am sharing one of my all seasons trendy foot wear.  In the current financial climate I definitely get my monies worth when I invest in a pair of shoe boots as they are so versatile.

So here are a few ways I would wear mine.

Peep toe shoe boots are my ultimate favourites.
These will transform any casual outfit.
The exposed heel and toes instantly makes it fit for the summer.

These fringed booties add a a touch of the trending 70s shake to this look.

Now your probably wondering how you can wear this in the winter.
I team my peep toe booties with frill socks.  You can add variety to the look with a bit of colour

This versatile footwear lends it’s self perfectly to this stylish chic look. Toeless tights are ideal for peep toe shoe boots in the cold winter months. I love these Berkshire tights. They have a wide variety of shades for all skin tones.

Maximizing Maxi’s

As we approach what seems to be the end of the summer months here in the UK..😣😣.

I had to share a post on maxi’s… the ultimate summer piece.
We leggy beauties know how difficult it is to find maxi’s that are long enough.
I opted to shop from the tall connoisseurs here in the UK.

This garden maxi as its called is perfect for your garden parties and luncheons.  The subtle pinks and lilac flower prints makes it very feminine. We like👍.
The good news is  that you don’t have to wave floral prints goodbye just yet.  Long live the floral prints as they come in stronger and bolder for AW/15.

This dress speaks for its self. No fuss , no jewellery needed a very easy wear.

I am a huge fan of wrap front clothing  as it’s very flattering for the curvy lady.  That said, the neckline of this dress had to be pinned as it was too exposed.
While I felt this dress was a few inches shorter than I would have liked, it does show off the my metallic silver sandals perfectly and classic red pedicure.  Not so bad after all.

The halter and back detail on this dress was unexpected and a well received suprised.

Happy summering

Don’t Midi me

Why hello there !

Today I am rocking out in a tea length wiggle wiggle dress … otherwise known as a midi dress.

Midi’s have made a massive come back and so now you can add more class to you closet with one if these.

This dress from Asos is my current day and night go to dress. Give me a pair of flat pumps and I would go from a lady who likes to lunch to casual shopping spree with the girls in an instant. It is totally versatile.
Wiggle wiggle dresse you are cut to perfection and you flatter and flatten all the right places.;)

One thing I love about midi is that it is not restricted to a specific body shape. My slim and curvy ladies can pull this off and so can my petite and tall beauts.

Have fun with experimenting with dress lengths and don’t let anyone dull your midi shine.

See you on the next post.

Play time

With the summer FINALLY visiting the UK it’s officially play time.

I am totally not leg confident but this playsuit adds variety to the everyday choice of shirt, dress or trousers.

I love the skirted front of this number.  It is not as covered as I would have liked but I subconsciously feel less exposed.

The deep cut back means you need to have your bra game on point.  I decided to wear my clear back bra from Debenhams with this playsuit and it worked well. If your too blessed to not be able to go bra less you might want to consider a good  bra before purchasing.
For the curvy ladies getting a good fitting bra can be the bane of our lives not to mention a multi-functional one.

I am not convinced that this playsuit is the most comfortable but I know for sure that it brought the heat.🔥🔥🔥
And that ladies is the price we sometimes have to pay.

With an outfit that speaks volumes my accessories were kept to a minimum.

Words can not describe it but there is something about having your hands in your pocket and strutting “your stuff”. We see it on the runway all the time…It’s oozes confidence.
