Hunting for a denim shirt dress!!

Each summer am always on the look out for the Ultimate denim shirt dress.  Am pretty convinced that if or when I eventually find the perfect one for me I will keep it for the rest of my life.

I am very serious because denim dresses never go out of style so you can wear it year after year …after year.

I recently bought this denim dress from River Island because I love that fact that it has popper front fastenings.  I literally can’t stand doing up buttons and I certainly don’t have the patience to button a whole dress shirt. Between me and you …there is also something very satisfying about ripping poppers open 💪💪💪.

This dress is from the plus range and I bought a Size 18. It is such a cool denim colour but it’s like am wearing my little sister dress 😩. YtwThis dress was sooo close to being the one but it needs about 4 inches to the length to work for me. The struggle is so real. When you are tall a mini dress can easily become Wini!

At just £20 is cute dress would fit perfectly in any wardrobe and you can shop this look here .
I completed this look with a pair of Nike trainers and a head scarf, oh and one tassel earring (very essential)

Guys am still on the hunt for a denim dress.  One that is not too short, just above the needs would be perfect.  All suggestions welcomed 😘😘

Thanks in advance. See you soon.

Travel diaries -Discovering Africa Sierra Leone lookbook -day 2 pt 2

I still can’t get over how nice people here have been.  In some countries I have found the people to be very hostile.  That is far from the truth here.

I was offered a ticket to the Alonzo concert, a Sierra Leone artist. Who am I refuse such an offer.  I have never heard of Alonzo and don’t listen to much Salone music, but while here I really wanted to support the ‘made in Sierra Leone’ campaign.

The concert took place at the Bintumani Hotel. This is currently the best hotel I have seen in Freetown. From talking to the locals it was built by the government’s but following the war it’s been redeveloped and it is currently being managed my foreigners.

The little that I got to see of the hotel looked impressive. Marble finish, swimming pool and great outdoor space.

OK back to the reason why I was at this venue.

When it comes to afrobeats, there is no doubt in my mind that Nigerian and Ghanaian music has dominated the scene. However, I love to see other countries partake in this genre of music.

I had absolutely no expecting for the night and I thing that’s what allowed me to enjoy the evening all the more.  I gave great for the artists here, particularly Alonzo who owed the stage and did his thing.

I was most impressed by the fact that he was performing with a live band.

Before I sign out for the day. Of course am going to share my outfit.  This dress was an unexpected find. It fitted like a glove and I loved every minute wearing it.

My feet wear a little swollen from the heat and travels, but it did not stop me from wearing these gorgeous shoes.
Thanks for reading to the end. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for regular updates @ijayheavens I post there regularly.

Ooo so Spring

The clocks have gone forwards in the UK(Bst) and it’s so good to have brighter sky’s for longer.
Nothing says spring like nude colours, No Coat, elegant knit wear, skirts and shades.

There is a spring in my step as I say ‘Hello’ to Spring.

Bright Hues

Sooooo a few weeks ago I become a Godmother for the very first time.  Not totally sure what this new role would entail but I am completely humbled and over joyed to have even been considered. In a rather shallow manner “what to wear” was one of the first things on my mind💭💭💭💭. Yes this topic was phone conversation worthy and I am glad that wearing white was ruled out early on in the conversation.  And then it hit me….

Bright hues would be brilliant for a baptism

There you have it, todays look was born.

I have been looking for a yellow blazer this shade for the longest, well, since I saw Gabrielle Union looking fabulous in one on season 1 of BMJ.  Then I spotted this beauty in my local Topshop on the sales aisle.  The icing on the cake was when I noticed that it was TALLLLL!!! ( Winning 👌👌🙌😄)
